Antivirus Software Mac
Antivirus software for Mac OS is limited in number as compared to its Microsoft Counterpart, but there’s excellent quality available for them. It is to be known that the earlier Mac OS X versions will have comparatively less quality as compared to the later versions. Most major antivirus software suppliers including Norton and McAfee provide extremely secure software for the Mac. We have listed most of them here.
Norton AntiVirus 11.0, for Mac
Norton AntiVirus version 11.0, for Mac, isn’t the best effort to come from Norton, it does provide good security but it happens to be very purpose specific. It doesn’t do well as an overall Anti-virus but does really well if you want to protect something in particular.
Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection for Mac

Norton AntiVirus Dual Protection, for Mac, is designed only for Mac users who dual boot with some version of Windows OS or run MS Windows in virtual environment on their Intel-based Mac computers. This again works well with only protecting specific parts of your system.
Norton Internet Security 3.0, for Macintosh
Norton Internet Security 3.0, for Macintosh, officially only supports the PowerPC G5/G4/G3 processor, running Mac OS X versions 10.1.5 to 10.3.9. This is a pricey option at $70 to run older versions, but it happens to be one of the few antiviruses which actually work on them, so it might be a good buy if you are using them.
McAfee-VirusScan Mac version
Most malware can hurt enterprises by spying on their information through key-loggers, backdoors, etc. Hence, software is needed which to keep track of what passes through and what should not. Unfortunately, Macs are quite difficult to manage and potentially pose a blind spot, especially in mixed environments; this is where McAfee scores really well.
Kaspersky ®Anti-Virus for Mac
This new Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac product is Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard compatible, providing its latest and award winning technology for Mac.
iAntivirus from PC Tools
iAntivirus, developed by PC Tools, is very good free software available for home or home-office users and is available for corporate users at a very low price. iAntivirus guards only against Mac-specific viruses.
Intego VirusBarrier
The focus of Intego is limited to Mac-specific security issues; this is where it lacks most. It wouldn’t stand up to the more versatile anti-virus heavyweights.
ClamXavFree Antivirus Software
ClamXav is free Mac antivirus software ans is based on the open source engine ClamAV; it supports most versions of Mac including: Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5. It also provides a limited support for Mac OS X versions 10.2 and 10.3. It as a support for multiple languages. However, its support for virus detection is not as broad as some of its competitors.
MacScan v2.6
MacScan, developed by SecureMac, is intended to guard against mostly spyware-related threats that target Mac users. While its range is limited, the focused approach isn’t actually a con under most scenarios.
